5 beauty resolutions 2019 that will transform your mind and your body

Another year, another attempt to start the healthy habits that bring lasting results.  If you’ve tried but failed, don’t be hard on yourself. The issue is most probably that you’re not creating the habits that best suit you. Doing something consistently creates a habit, and that then becomes a daily ritual. From meditation, yoga, the foods you eat to the nightly wind down; these are all rituals that can enhance your life, but that’s the key here – your life.  Ayurveda is a tailor-made practice suited to each individual and when you create habits that suit you; you’re more likely to succeed.  Here are our tips for the beauty routines and new year's resolution tips to bring lasting results.

5 Ayurvedic New Year's Resolutions

  • Know Yourself

Before you can even begin to create success, it’s key to know yourself. A key aspect of Ayurveda wellness is decoding and then living in harmony with ones constitution/dosha (doe-sha). Dosha (physical/emotional blueprint) and everything in the Universe is made up of a combination of the five elemental forces of space, air, fire, water and earth. You may have heard of people being described as flighty, grounded or fiery for instance, which is instinctively describing their energetic/elemental blueprint. There are three main dosha and each is made from a combination of the elements; these being Vata (air/ether), Pitta (fire/water) and Kapha (water/earth).

As humans, we need all these energies to produce, metabolise and maintain health. Psychologically, we need the creation of new ideas (vata), the ability to articulate them (pitta) and then the resolve to realise them (kapha). That being said, most of us will have a main, sub and opposing dosha and having a greater understanding of where you fall, will help liberate us from general disease, which is the very aim of Ayurveda wellness. Take our quiz and discover your dosha. This will also help you to learn about Ayurvedic diet and what you should eat, beauty products to use, or which rituals you could begin with.

  • Clarity of Mind & Skin

Another aspect of knowing yourself is to tune in, and the best way to do this is through meditation.  A daily meditation practice brings immense benefits and again, what’s key here is to know the style that suits you.  For some, this will mean sitting in complete silence, for others it will mean repeating a mantra, or perhaps you would prefer a guided meditation or visualisation, or you could focus on the rise and fall of your breathing.  Play with the different techniques but regardless of which you choose, the byproduct will not simply be clarity of mind, but it will also give you a radiant glow.  Just 5 minutes of meditation a day brings immense energy (prana) into the body and this boost of oxygen helps boost rejuvenate skin and slow down the ageing process.  Try lighting our Silence and Sundaram candle to give yourself a point of focus and benefit from the sublime essential oil blend.

  • Sleep Well

Sleeping beauty knew what she was doing. We all know from experience that lack of sleep by night inhibits our ability to make the most of our precious days and that no amount of product can compensate for the glow that comes from deep rest. Fortunately, there is an art to sleeping and Mauli have bottled the formulas that will support you to experience sublime slumber.  Begin by having a bath in our healing salts to release toxins and relax the senses.  Follow with a massage and then apply a little Sleep Dharma Pillow Mist to your pillow.

  • Rehydrate & Rejuvenate

All the skincare in the world can’t come close to giving you the health benefits of water.  Our herbal infusions go one better and give your body a much-needed boost of nature’s finest nutrients while giving the body exactly what it needs throughout the day.

  • Mind Your Massage

Glowing skin is not simply about the external – internal organs need oils to stop them from drying, keep blood flowing, stimulate the detoxification process and encourage a healthy glow. Our dosha balancing oils will bring much relief and there’s one that’s just right for you. Another wonderful by-product of a daily massage is the love and acceptance that comes from getting close to your body.  As you begin to love and accept yourself, you open to accepting all that is, and with that, life flows.
