Your thoughts become your words and your words become your actions. Do not underestimate the power of self-talk and how your actions can create negative and unhealthy habits and pathways in your brain.

That is why consciously choosing to use a higher level of thinking and  practising positive self-talk alongside daily affirmations will over time subconsciously replace your negative actions, creating good habits. You will rewire your brain and the balance will shift in favour of positivity if you consistently practise positive talk to yourself.

At Mauli Rituals, we believe that finding balance and control not just over your body but your mind and spirit help to create a healthy environment for you to flourish and be the best version of yourself.

What Is A Positive Affirmation?

Put simply, positive affirmations are words, phrases, and statements that you say to yourself, that should only be full of love, encouragement, gratitude, and kindness.

Positive Affirmations

The best way to look at how you talk to yourself, is to compare you to someone you love. Would you say something negative about someone you value in your life? The answer is of course no, meaning that you shouldn’t speak to yourself like that either.

How To Practise Positive Affirmation Of The Day

There is an abundance of benefits to adding positive affirmations to your daily routine. They help you to actively change the pathways in your brain to be able to have a positive perspective on yourself and any scenario you may find yourself in.Also, positivity in general will help to transform your life, from how you interact with people, the outside world, stressful situations and ultimately how you view yourself.

To get you started on your journey, here are our top tips on how to practise daily affirmations:

1. Write A List Of What You Believe Are Your Negative Qualities

To get started you need to focus on what your perceived negative thoughts about yourself are. This will help to narrow down what you need to focus on and try to change the direction of the negative thoughts.

For example, do you always put pressure on yourself to be perfect because you don’t think you are good enough? Do you look in the mirror and point out parts of your body that you dislike and want to change? When you are faced with a negative scenario do you automatically think you are in the wrong and no one likes you?

In order to achieve this, might we recommend our Gratitude Journal? Each night, fill these pages with all that you are grateful, and your positive affirmations to recite the next day, be it in the form of inspiring pictures or heartfelt words. Each day live with focused intention, and love for yourself.

2. Create Your Personalised Affirmations

Now from your list, turn your negatives into positives. Try to keep it to short and easy phrases for you to remember.

Write them down, put them in your note app on your phone or a popular way to do this is to stick them to the corner of your mirror. For example, if you have a negative body image your affirmations could be, ‘I accept my body,’ and  ‘I love myself.’

If you struggle with a positive sense of self, your affirmations could be, ‘I am enough,’ ‘My best is good enough,’ ‘ I am strong,’ and ‘I am okay on my own.’

Find what works for you, you can change them depending on how you feel on the day.

3. Say Your Affirmations Out Loud

Take your affirmations and say them out loud and into a mirror. This will help you to take in the words you are saying. The best way to do this is when you wake up in the morning, stand in front of your bedroom or bathroom mirror and say your affirmations to yourself. This may feel unnatural at first but over time it will become a simpler and instinctive practice.

4. Prioritise ‘Me Time’

At the core of positive affirmations is to ultimately prioritise yourself and focus on your wellbeing. You need to take the time to relax and cultivate an environment for you to be able to choose positivity and decompress from a stressful day. You can do this by taking time out of your evening and soaking in a hot bath with healing Himalayan. This will allow you the time to refresh, reset and gain clarity over your thoughts.
