We recently had the honour of partnering with the incredible Charlotte Church to bring her beautiful Cauldron of Sound experience to our Mauli community. Rooted in the ancient power of collective voice and the transformative nature of ritual, it was a meeting of kindred spirits, and a reminder of the profound connection we find when we pause and come together.
After the gathering, we sat down with Charlotte to reflect on the meaning of Cauldron of Sound and explore how you can bring the spirit of this ancient ritual into your own life, wherever you are.
What is the Cauldron of Sound?
"This is the ancient, living practice of the human voice as a collective instrument. Drawing on the principles of Collaborative Vocal Improvisation and the tradition of circle singing, this session dissolves the boundary between performer and audience. There is no stage here, only a circle, and every voice belongs. Participants are guided into spontaneous, layered vocal landscapes. No experience, training, or prior courage required, only a willingness to listen and sound. Together we weave rhythm, harmony, drone, and melody into something none of us could have made alone. A reminder that singing together is one of the oldest medicines we have."

What's the most powerful part of this experience?
"The most powerful part is that people start by being very quiet and inhibited and shy about their voices and making sound. By the end of it people have experienced quite significant emotional releases during that time."
The session explored how to release the voice that has been told in the past to be quiet. Any advice for someone looking to practice something similar at home?
"Most people feel OK singing on their own in the shower or in the car, it is when you are with other people and start to feel the inhibitions around the sound of your voice that people struggle with releasing their voice. So this work needs to be done in a group setting - my advice would be to join a group!"

What was your favourite part of the event with Mauli Rituals?
"Hearing everyone's voices for the first time!"
Ritual comes in many forms - what is your most important everyday ritual?
"It depends on the day - sometimes my most important ritual might be something I have done with my six year old. Sometimes it might be connecting to the cosmos - whether it's connecting to the full moon or the season, or it might be connecting with my ancestors. It depends hugely on the day, the time of year and how I am feeling. The only daily ritual I do without fail is make a cup of tea!"

What are your favourite Mauli products?
"I LOVE the shampoo & conditioner and the Supreme Skin Face Serum."
