Hand-Spun, Temple Blessed Khadi Shawl
Our beautiful meditation shawl is made with plants gathered from Indian temples & hand-loomed by artisans in India using the same yarns and methods they use when making robes for the Dalai Lama.
Ayurvastra harnesses organic yarns infused with pure dyes made from a precise combination of medicinal herbs, barks, flowers and oils to gently heal and harmonise the mind and body as only plants can. When wearing Ayurvastra dyed yarns against the skin during meditation rituals, the body’s ability to fully benefit from the plant's medicinal properties increases.
Khadi is the art of hand spinning fibres that results in uniquely subtle variations in the meditation shawls in width, density and plant dye absorption. In a world of mass-production, khadi gives villagers the opportunity to earn a Fairtrade income without the need for any outlay other than a spinning wheel and their time. Where a fossil-fuel fed spinning machine might require two operators, the same output through hand spinning yarn would require 100 artisans.
Our Hand-Spun, Temple Blessed Khadi Shawls can vary slightly in size due to the tightness of the weave, but the size is approx. 250 x 90cm.
Sit in a comfortable position, wrap yourself in our generous meditation shawl, connect and just be. Carry on your travels to feel protected and calm.
100% pure organic cotton - fair-trade shawls - made in India.
Peace - a divine combination of manjistha to purify, holy basil to soothe and edged on one side with temple blessed marigolds to connect to inner knowing.
Purity - harnessing the healing power of temple-blessed plant dyes and gallnuts – widely prescribed in Ayurveda for their natural anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial properties.
Our Khadi Meditation Shawls should be hand-washed with a mild detergent in cold to lukewarm water. Do not wring, but gently squeeze out excess water and leave it to dry, out of direct sunlight.
They are hand-died and all unique and sometimes slightly vary in colours from the original pictures.
The colour of the plant dyed shawls can fade over time but this only adds to their unique beautify and evolving nature.
