Amla oil is a natural substance made from Indian gooseberries, also known as Phyllanthus emblica. The thick and nourishing properties of this oil is what gives it such power and it’s wide popularity across Indian medicine. Native Indian gooseberry trees are world-renowned for their fruits, but some also believe other parts of the amla tree hold medicinal benefits too.

Amla fruits are high in vitamin C, nutrients and other antioxidants; they have been eaten for thousands of years. But their most popular use is to be made into oils and other produce to be used in therapeutic and ayurvedic medicines.

How is Amla oil made?

To make Amla oil you must first dry the fruits out, traditionally under the heat of the Indian sun. Then you soak the dried fruits in a carrier oil, coconut or sesame seed oils are most popular for this, as they are natural and are best for encouraging amla fruits to release their own oils into the mixture. Then other powerful ingredients can be added, this is where Mauli Amla oils stand out from others. Mauli use a specific combination of herbs, extracts and petals to fortify the blend.

What are the benefits of Amla Oil?

Amla oil products are most popularly used for your hair, to stimulate growth and repair. Amla oil itself is high in tannin compounds and one of the world's most powerful antioxidants meaning it contains the ideal ingredients to infuse your hair with the right protection against environmental aggressors and dryness.  At Mauli we then mix this with Eclipta Alba into our hair oils and products. Also referred to as the ‘King of Hair' for its rejuvenating properties, this ingredient’s protein-packed extracts are used in Ayurveda to reduce premature greying and hair loss, whilst increasing strength, thickness and shine in your hair.

When blended with amla oil these other ingredients spring to life to restore and revive hair to a naturally healthy state. Centella Asiatica is rich in saponins and tannins which are powerful antioxidants. These are worshipped in Ayurveda practise for their ability to add moisture, thickness and gloss to hair, whilst eliminating dandruff, reducing split ends and slowing signs of premature greying. See for yourself the abundance of power in the ingredients used for Mauli Grow Strong Hair Oil.
